			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Olive Pink Botanic Garden (OPBG) in Alice Springs displays the plants of central Australia and actively contributes to their conservation through horticulture and community education.</p>
<p>The Garden is run by a Board of Trustees appointed by the Minister for Local Government. The Board is entrusted with managing the Garden on behalf of and in consultation with the local community. It is responsible for ensuring that the Garden and its plant collection are protected for future generations, and that the Garden enriches the social and cultural life of our community and our visitors.</p>
<p>Olive Pink Botanic Garden is seeking expressions of interest from members of the community to fill two vacant positions on the Board of Trustees.</p>
<p>Expressions of interest should provide evidence that reflect the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>Active community involvement and the ability to represent community views</li>
<li>An understanding of the role of OPBG in the community</li>
<li>Ability to contribute to the governance of the OPBG</li>
<li>Understanding of the role of a Board member in directing the development of the Garden in accordance with its Master Plan, and supporting the OPBG staff</li>
<li>Skills in areas such as strategic management, plant ecology, legal/financial/business management, community education, marketing and communication, risk management.</li>
</ul>

<p>Join the Friends of Olive Pink Botanic Garden and share in the development of this vibrant community space. The friends volunteer to help develop new plantings, maintain existing garden areas and infrastructure, you can help organise Events and Exhibitions or  join our Garden Growers group which propagates all of the plants used in the Garden as well as those grown to raise funds through our annual native plant sales. Friends also also recieve  discounts to Garden events and at The Bean Tree Cafe.</p>
